Abstract This paper presents a systematic method for calculating the power supplied by or dissipated to each element of a planar or nonplanar dc Linear Electric Circuit (LEC) by Nodal Analysis with Virtual Current Sources (NA-VCS). To apply this method, the nonconvertible voltage sources (independent, dependent) are replaced by Virtual Current Sources (VCS). As a result, in the circuit examined, all sources are current sources and so the NA-VCS is applied. Solving any dc LEC by this method is straightforward, since most of the work is done by inspection and some matrix manipulations required are easily implemented by the students using calculators or inexpensive math pro-grams for personal computers. Thus, all dc LECs are treated in a similar way, regardless of the circuit complex-ity. As an application of this method, the solution for a complex dc LECs are provided. |
